Sparkling wine
From the highly acclaimed team at Oakridge comes their first foray into the medium-priced sparkling market. Popping the cork brings forth immediate aromas of bread and red fruit (summer pudding), and then that vital first sip delivers abundant crackle and pop - high-energy stuff, with crispness and vibrancy. We loved the crunchy apple notes, hints of stonefruit and the waft of fresh red berry flavours throughout. The length is formidable.

Our Mackenzie William is named after the eldest grandson of Trevor and Marilyn Harch. Our Eden Valley Riesling is delicately hand-picked from our longstanding vines planted in the
1960s, 1980s, and from our cherished, deep rooted 1890s vines – thought to be some of the oldest in Australia.
This first Brockenchack wine, the Mackenzie William, is crafted from
some of Australia's oldest Riesling vines, planted in 1896. The 2011 vintage features lime, citrus and floral aromas. The palate shows delicated minerality with a hint of sweetness and
finishes with a tight, crisp acidity.

Morris Durif is a robust rich intensely flavoured wine balanced with full soft tannins and oak. Mick Morris once described the variety as 'Shiraz on steroids'. This wine is a great accompaniment to red meat, game and casseroles.

The Pagan Shiraz is the flagship wine for Koltz and also represents our philosophy of making handmade wines which are complex and a pleasure to drink. The Pagan is made from shiraz grapes grown on our Blewitt Springs vineyard, in the coolest, most elevated parts of McLaren Vale. The grapes are hand-picked into drying trays and taken to the winery where they are dried for 6 to 7 weeks. They are then sorted and crushed into small open fermenters where they slowly ferment and are hand plunged for 3 weeks before being basket pressed. The new wine continues to ferment for many months in oak and in total spends two years in oak before being bottled.

Brilliant pale straw colour with greenish tinged pale gold edges and a watery hue. Intense honeyed peach scents rise from the glass with marmalade, ripe apricot and spice also present. Rich, luscious palate flavours of honeyed peaches and apricots fill the mouth over some light marmalade, citrus and spice. Excellent length although not quite the weight or concentration of top flight Sauternes. Good fresh finish with a long-honeyed peach, apricot, marmalade and spice aftertaste.
